Megan Rapinoe Parents: Meet Denise And Jim

Growing up, she showed a solid devotion to social issues, which her adoring parents encouraged and supported. Her family is quite patriotic. Her grandpa, a World War II veteran, lives with her family, and her father, Jim, was conscripted during the Vietnam War.

Additionally, Megan’s maternal grandpa fought in the Korean War and sustained multiple wounds. Their family has a long history of patriotic military duty. She was first introduced to competitive soccer at the juvenile age of nine. There were few options for girls to play the sport at the time in Redding, California. Jim, her father, put her for a year on a male’s squad. Despite Megan’s on-field success, she found the boys’ physicality to be a considerable obstacle.

Jim volunteered to be her coach for almost three years due to the lack of girls’ teams and coaches. It was challenging to put together a girls’ squad back then, but because of Jim’s perseverance, Megan was able to follow her passion for soccer.

Megan Rapinoe Siblings

The well-known soccer star Megan Rapinoe is from a vast and multicultural household. She had a close relationship with both her elder brother, Brian Rapinoe, and her fraternal twin, Rachael Rapinoe. Denise and Jim, Megan’s parents, have seven kids. They are Michael and Jenny, two step-siblings from Denise’s first marriage, along with Megan, Rachael, and Brian. She looked up to her elder brother Brian when she was a small child and was motivated to play soccer by seeing his love for the game.

Sadly, Brian’s drug addiction throughout her first years at school caused his life to go downward. Brian spent time in juvenile detention before being incarcerated many times in different institutions, including Pelican Bay State Prison, by the time Megan was 10 and Brian was fifteen. Rachael, Megan’s identical twin sister, played both forward and midfield for her soccer team. The two sisters even collaborated to organize kids’ soccer camps.

She embodies the perfect fusion of the passionate Gaelic customs frequently associated with New Jersey and the garlic-infused Italian culture that makes up a quarter of her family’s history.

Her Irish great-grandfather traveled with six sisters, according to research into her family history. One of the remaining five, Bridget, Kate, Mary, Maggie, and Lizzie, emigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, while the other one died young. Both her grandpa Jack and father Jim proudly served their nation in the military.
