Bernita Landry’s Career, and Swamp People

Although fans of the History Channel’s Swamp People may be familiar with Bernita because she is the wife of the show’s star, Troy Landry, she rarely appeared on the show herself. In fact, she appeared on the show for only one episode, back in 2010.

Bernita had no acting experience other than her one appearance in Swamp People. She did, however, have a successful career of her own. In fact, she began her first job as a teller at Patterson State Bank when she was only 17 years old (in 1975).

Bernita had previously worked as a schoolteacher in addition to her early job. She was also the History Channel’s publicist, which was a very prestigious position.

Her husband’s connection to History may have landed her the job. However, the events could also go in the opposite direction. And if Bernita was the one who got her husband the job for which he is famous, then she deserves credit.

She also assisted in the Landrys’ family business of alligator hunting and crawfish production.
