Shannon Lee, mother

Shannon Emery Lee is an American actress, martial artist, and businesswoman. She is most known, though, as the daughter of Bruce Lee, a globally adored actor, and martial artist, and former martial arts trainer Linda Lee Cadwell.

She learned Jeet Kune Do, her father’s martial art, throughout her infancy under Richard Bustillo, one of her father’s instructors; nevertheless, she did not begin her serious studies until the late 1990s. Her late father’s specialty was in action films, therefore she studied Jeet Kune Do with Ted Wong.

Shannon also trained in Taekwondo with Dung Doa Liang and Wushu with Eric Chen, all under the direction of entering the Eagles’ chairman, Yuen De. In the film “Enter the Eagles,” she had to compete against Benny Urquidez, who eventually taught her kickboxing.

Lee made her acting debut as a party singer in her father’s biography film “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.” She later appeared in “High Voltage” with bodybuilding great Lou Ferrigno, as well as “Cage II” with Antonio Sabato Jr. in 1994.

Lee co-starred with Michael Wong and Anita Yuen in the Hong Kong action film “Enter the Eagles,” directed by Corey Yuen, in 1998. The film follows Martin, a robber, as he attempts to steal the Czar’s Prism, the largest diamond in the Czech Republic.

Lee participated in one episode of the television series “Martial Law” in 1998, opposite Sammo Hung, and in the sci-fi TV movie “Epoch,” which premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2001. She was the executive producer of “The Legend of Bruce Lee,” a 2008 television series, and the documentary film “How Bruce Lee Changed the World.”

She is also a co-founder of the Bruce Lee Foundation, which upholds the martial artist’s principles.

Bruce Lee, grandfather

Lee Jun-fan, better known as Bruce Lee, was born on November 27, 1940. He was an American actor, producer, martial artist, philosopher, and trainer of Hong Kong origin. His most notable acting roles were in “The Way of the Dragon,” “Enter the Dragon,” and “Fist of Fury.”

Lee was the founder of Jeet Kune Do, a martial arts ideology built from diverse combat methods that are frequently regarded as paving the way for modern mixed martial arts.

Historiographers, scholars, journalists, and fellow martial artists recognized him as the most influential martial artist of all time, and he was also at the vanguard of changing the way Asian people were portrayed in American cinema.

Time magazine called him one of the 100 most influential individuals of the twentieth century, and he received the Founders Award posthumously at The Asian Awards in 2013.

His influence on culture and the arts was enormous, and there are memorials to him in Hong Kong, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Los Angeles.

Lee’s father, Lee Hoi-Chuen, was a famous actor in the Cantonese opera and film industry on the eve of the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong; he spent a lot of time traveling and performing for Chinese communities across the United States.

While many of his colleagues elected to remain in the United States, Hoi-Chuen relocated to Hong Kong when Bruce was born. Bruce’s mother, Grace Ho, came from the Ho-tungs clan, one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest.
