Musician Travis Lazarus “Travie” McCoy is from the United States. He has maintained a successful solo career in addition to being most known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the rap rock band Gym Class Heroes.

McCoy immersed himself in the punk music scene while he was a teenager. He founded the band Gym Class Heroes with Matt McGinley, a buddy from his youth.

The band had several lineup changes before signing with Fueled by Ramen, who issued their debut album.

Gym Class Heroes took a three-year vacation from recording music, allowing McCoy to concentrate on his projects.

His debut solo album, “Lazarus,” was released in 2010 by T-Pain’s company, Nappy Boy Entertainment.

Bruno Mars’ “Billionaire,” the album’s debut track, peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart.

Travis McCoy was arrested on July 2, 2008, for aggravated assault after hitting a man over the head with his microphone.

The incident happened at a concert in St. Louis when the man called McCoy names based on his race.

McCoy responded by approaching the individual and requesting clarity on what was stated. McCoy’s knee was already hurt when the guy reportedly hit him.

As a consequence, third-degree assault charges were brought against Travie McCoy, and an arrest warrant was issued.

While on tour in Berlin, Germany, on October 28, 2010, McCoy was detained once more. This time, it related to spray painting on the Berlin Wall.

Following his release on bail of £1,500 ($2,081), he continued his European tour and made a stop in Amsterdam.

Travie Mccoy Relationship History

For more than two years, Travie was dating singer Katy Perry. However, in December 2008, they called it quits.

After that, they temporarily got back together, but in 2009, Perry broke up with them by email.

The separation was attributed to McCoy’s drug abuse. Perry played McCoy’s love interest in the music video for “Cupid’s Chokehold,” which was released in late November 2006.

McCoy is thought to have served as Perry’s inspiration for the song “Circle the Drain” from her 2010 album Teenage Dream.

Travie publicly admitted in 2012 that his preference for drugs above their connection contributed to the breakdown of their relationship.

He acknowledged that he occasionally questioned his place in Perry’s life and thought of himself as nothing more than a stepping stone.
