On August 16, 1990, Japanese-British singer-songwriter and model Rina Sawayama was born. At the moment, Rina is 32 years old.

She relocated to London when she was five years old after being born in Niigata, Japan. Rina, her first long play, was published in 2017.

She released Sawayama, her maiden studio album, in 2020 after signing with Dirty Hit, to rave acclaim.

She released Hold the Girl, her second studio album, on September 16, 2022.

Sawayama is a musician, but she has also starred in several fashion campaigns. She will soon make her acting debut in John Wick: Chapter 4, too.

Family of Rina Sawayama: Father and Mother are divorcing

Sawayama, a Japanese-born British woman of Japanese parents, was reared in Camden, London. After Sawayama’s father moved to Japan when she was ten years old, her parents divorced.

Noriko Sawayama, an interior designer and the mother of Rina Sawayama, serves as the company’s creative director.

It is a prominent design company with headquarters in London that provides thorough interior design and advisory services for international residential and commercial projects (hotel, restaurant, spa). In 2000, NSDA was established.

The Merit Award was given to Rina’s mother by the British Institute of Interior Design in 2016.

Rina, who was raised by her mother, frequently brought up her mother in interviews and said that they “didn’t have a nice connection growing up.” Rina usually refers to her as Mama Sawayama.

She remained there until she was five years old until her family chose to move to London, where she was raised and still resides. She can stay in the UK indefinitely because of her ILR visa.

According to Sawayama, the family’s initial goal was to return to Japan when he reached 10, but they finally chose to stay in London. Her parents divorced.

After her parents’ divorce, Rina was mostly reared by her mother, with whom she shared a room until she was fifteen.

To work on their shared laptop, Rina’s mother used to go to bed at 10 p.m. and wake up at 2 a.m. Rina adds that she has multiple recollections of just witnessing Noriko go back to her bunk bed during this period.

Since Sawayama didn’t speak English, she had a hard time comprehending her lecturers and classmates.

She ultimately developed social relationships through pop music. After publishing music covers on Myspace at the age of 16, she founded the hip-hop ensemble Lazy Lion in her sixth grade.

Sawayama attended Magdalene College in Cambridge to study sociology, psychology, and politics. She graduated from the institution with a degree in political science.

Rina Sawayama Salary

The pop singer Rina Sawayama has a $12 million net worth.

Even though Sawayama hasn’t yet created any mega-hits, there is no denying that she has made a name for herself. Given her expanding stature in the bigger sector, she has probably amassed a sizable sum of money.

In a conversation with The Line of Best Fit, Sawayama acknowledged that she had been saving for a long time. 2020 saw Rina purchase a lavish home for herself.

Rina says to the interviewer, “I’m appreciative. I was able to get it without parental help. The up-and-coming actress expresses appreciation for yet another victory in 2020.

One of the recipients of Vogue Japan’s “Women of the Year 2019” award was Sawayama. The Breakthrough Award from the Attitude Awards was given to her in 2020 as well.

Sawayama expressed her disappointment in late July 2020 after finding she couldn’t be nominated for important British music awards like the Mercury Prize and Brit Awards since she doesn’t have British citizenship.

Elton John generously supported her cause online. Later, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) changed the rules to include her and everyone else who had remained in the UK.

Rina has a YouTube channel with 419K subscribers, a Twitter account with 317.8K followers, and an Instagram account with 944K followers.
