Robert was born in Okinawa since his father, Robert Jr., and mother, Jacquelyn, were USA Army sergeants stationed in Okinawa at the time; they relocated to Tacoma, Washington, not long after Robert was born, and eventually to Copperas Cove, Texas when Robert was seven.

He excelled in football, basketball, and track while attending Copperas Cove High School, breaking two state records in track, and was named the greatest high school 400-meter runner in 2007.

Numerous college football teams from Nebraska, Tennessee, and Illinois wanted to recruit him as soon as he matriculated, and he initially signed with Houston before switching to Baylor after Houston’s head coach, Art Briles, moved to coach at Baylor – while at college, Robert set new track records and began playing football for the Bears.

After receiving a Master’s degree in communications, he began playing for the Washington Redskins wearing the number 10, while wearing a jersey that said ‘Robert Griffin III,’ making him the first player to wear a Roman numeral on his jersey. His abilities earned him the NFL Rookie of the Week honor, as well as the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

On March 24, 2016, he signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the Cleveland Browns and was immediately anointed the starting quarterback. He was released by the organization on March 10, 2017, but signed with the Baltimore Ravens on April 4, 2018.
