However, as a married couple, they had many difficulties, not because of racial differences, but because of bad financial circumstances.

Nicole and her better half Chris began dating as college students in the early 1990s. When the couple realized they were going to be parents soon, they dropped out of college and probably married in the meantime. Since then, the pair has remained committed to one another, overcoming every challenge and adversity along the way.

Halsey once disclosed the cause behind her homelessness in an interview. She stated,

They simply did not agree with many aspects of my personality.

However, the couple has reconciled with their daughters. They have a wonderful relationship, just like any other parent and child.

Sevian, her son, is an activist who has spoken out against racial discrimination in 2020.

Nicole’s son Sevian, who was born bi-racial, aggressively spoke out against racial injustice in the year 2020.

He graduated from California State University in May 2020 and immediately became an activist. On June 6, 2020, he posted a video on Instagram protesting and titled it,

“A post on your story is insufficient. Watching a documentary is insufficient. makes some calls and make some signs. Let us continue to advocate for human rights because it appears that eradicating racism is a contentious issue in our deeply flawed country. Be brave. Be enthusiastic. Be considerate. “Do not remain silent.”

Two days later, his well-known sister Halsey stated on social media that she is immensely proud of her younger brother Sevian for speaking out against racism.

“The thing about having bipolar disorder is that it makes me extremely empathetic.” I am acutely aware of everything around me… I used to tell [my mother] all the time, “I hate this.”

She also mentioned that her mother assisted her in coping with the disease, saying,

‘Would you rather be blissfully ignorant or tortured and conscious?’

Though Nicole never spoke out about her mental illness, her daughter is an outspoken champion for those with Bipolar disease.
