Paul Wight, a.k.a. the Big Show, was married to Melissa Ann Piavis in the past. From 1997 until 2002, she was married to the WWE superstar. She attracted a lot of public attention in the 1990s as a result of her connection to the Big Show. About three years were spent as husband and wife. But they split up in the early 2000s.

Why did things go wrong between the two, then? What has Piavis been doing since she and Wight parted up? Read the article below to learn every piece of information there is to know about this former partner of the 12-time Grand Slam champion, including her early years, career, interactions with wrestlers, life after divorce, and more.

Why Did The Big Show And Melissa Ann Piavis Split Up?

In 1995, when Big Show had just begun his wrestling career, Piavis and Big Show had their first encounter. Before exchanging nuptials on Valentine’s Day (14 February) 1997, the pair dated for a period.

Everything looked to be going smoothly until it wasn’t. Relationship problems began to arise between Piavis and her WWE celebrity husband. In the end, they decided to split in 2000.

They completed their divorce on February 6, 2002, which was two years later. Both Big Show and his ex-wife have been coy about the reasons for their split, and neither has spoken out about them to this day. The couple even decided to keep their divorce settlement and alimony details private.

Some people believed Show was having an affair with Bess Katramados, who would later become his second wife. Days after his divorce from Melissa was finalized, the former WWE superstar wed Bess.

On the other hand, some contend that Big Show’s demanding schedule with WWF ultimately destroyed his relationship with Piavis. He even missed the anniversary of their second wedding to compete in a title bout.

Cierra Wight, the first kid of Big Show, is Melissa’s child. On November 28, 1998, she gave birth to her daughter Wight in Florida. The lone child of Piavis and Wight, at age 23, graduated from Palm Harbor High School.

Cierra has avoided the social media world, just like her mother did. She has two siblings from her father’s previous marriage to Bess Katramados, his present spouse.

Melissa Anna Piavis: Where is She?

Since her split from Big Show in 2002, Melissa has established herself as a public figurehead. Although other reports indicate she currently resides in Florida, it is unclear how she is faring personally or professionally.

While Big Show appeared to move on and eventually married Katramados, the specifics of Piavis’ life after becoming an AEW star remain a mystery. Having said that, it appears that Melissa did not get married following her breakup with Big Show. There are also no reports of her having romantic relationships.

Why Did The Big Show Leave WWE, Piavis’ Former Husband?

On the January 4, 2021 episode of Raw for Legends Night, Paul Donald Wight II made his final WWE appearance after attending Survivor Series to witness The Undertaker’s retirement ceremony.

Next month, Big Show and WWE broke off their relationship. According to reports, the parties were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract’s financial terms. Later, Wight stated “creative frustrations” and a lack of inspiration as his reasons for leaving.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) made it known on February 24, 2021, that Paul Wight has joined the organization and would be commentating alongside Tony Schiavone for their upcoming YouTube series AEW Dark: Elevation. It was further announced in the announcement that Wight would perform inside the ring.

The Crossroads, the March 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, saw the debut of the twice-declared world heavyweight champion. On the Dynamite episode from August 11, 2021, Wight—who wouldn’t use his WWE name—got physical for the first time in an AEW ring, helping Tony Schiavone and his son Chris. The Factory, a team under the direction of QT Marshall, was attacking the father-and-son team.

Why Was Big Show’s Netflix Series Canceled, Piavis’ Ex-Husband’s?

It’s typical for wrestlers to occasionally transition into acting. It was Wight’s turn to try his luck in Hollywood following Dwayne and Cena. While Wight had previously had film credits, Netflix became the one to give him the sole attention by releasing The Big Show Show to the public.

A fictionalized version of Wight’s wife, three pre-teen girls, and other members of his family are featured in the family sitcom that centers on him and his life.

Sadly, the streaming network terminated the program after just one season, disappointing viewers who were hoping for further mishaps starring Big Show and his TV family. Most likely as a result of the show’s low viewership, it was canceled.

Wight’s fans did, however, receive one final gift from Netflix in the form of the Christmas episode of The Big Show Show, which will air on December 9, 2020. The storyline of the film incorporated all of the characters from the series.
