Leslie’s father reportedly chose the location for his and Bacall’s wedding because he disliked being the center of attention. The late Democrat also enjoyed outdoors and didn’t want to be in the company of Hollywood’s top crust, with cameras everywhere.

When Humphrey and Bacall were together, they were dubbed “Hollywood’s Royal Couple.” Leslie once stated of her mother that Bacall’s love for her father was tremendous because it was the only thing she could talk about.

Humphrey Bogart, according to Bacall, was always sensitive and romantic. The actor-couple had two children, Stephen Humphrey Bogart and Leslie Howard Bogart, during their 12-year marriage. Humphrey died of cancer in 1957, ending their marriage.

Leslie’s mother married another actor after her father died.

Leslie’s mother, Lauren Bacall, began a connection with the late My Way singer Frank Sinatra after Humphrey’s death. Sinatra proposed to her but canceled the relationship once the proposal tale made headlines.

Leslie maintains her late mother never forgot her working-class roots, despite being able to purchase beautiful, expensive items. Bogart claims that despite her mother’s immense success, wealth, and recognition as an actress, she remained humble and a true romantic at heart. She also seemed to enjoy getting to know the artists who created the pieces she wore.
