Meanwhile, Kyoko’s father, Anthony Cox, is a jazz musician, film producer, and art promoter from the United States. Her parents, Yoko and Anthony, divorced after around 6 years of marriage. What happened to her life after her parents divorced? What did she go through?

In this post, we will discuss Yoko Ono’s daughter Kyoko Chan Cox, including her age, education, personal life, net worth, and other details. In addition, we shall discuss her kidnapping, so please bear with us.

Kyoko Chan Cox’s Biography: Age, Wiki, and Parents

Kyoko was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1963. She will be 59 years old in 2022. In terms of her precise birthdate, practically all media agencies reported that she was born on August 8, yet according to her social media account, her birthday is on March 17.

Cox’s parents moved to New York, USA, shortly after her birth, and she grew up there largely under the supervision of her father Anthony.

She didn’t have an easy childhood as a child because her parents were experiencing marital problems. Kyoko’s parents divorced formally when she was five years old, and her father was handed custody of her. As a result, she spent her entire childhood without her mother.

In terms of schooling, she attended North Hollywood’s Walter Reed Junior High School. She also attended other international schools (the identity of which is unknown) and was tutored by private tutors.

Furthermore, Cox is of Japanese and English origin, and her nationality is Japanese by birth. However, because she was reared in America from an early age, she most likely possesses American citizenship.

Kyoko Chan Cox has a well-known ancestry.

Kyoko’s family was wealthy and prominent for two generations, especially on her mother’s side. Eijiro Ono, Cox’s great-grandfather, was the president of the Japan Industrial Bank and the Kyoritsu Mining Company.

Similarly, Eisuke Ono, Kyoko’s maternal grandpa, was a wealthy banker and former classical musician. Her maternal grandmother, Isoko Ono, was also a trained musical instrumentalist and a proficient reader of Japanese musical charts.

Kyoko Chan Cox has one half-brother.

Her parents have only one child. Kyoko, on the other hand, has a half-sibling named Sean Lennon, also known as Tara Ono, thanks to her mother’s marriage to Beatles co-lead vocalist John Lennon. He was born on October 9, 1975, and will be 47 years old in 2022.

Sean, her half-brother, is also a musician, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from the United States. He has produced various music CDs for musicians such as the Black Lips and the Plastic Ono Band. He is also a solo musician who has published three solo albums, Into the Sun, Friendly Fire, and Half Horse, Half Musician.

Kyoko Chan Cox was kidnapped by her father: What occurred?

Despite having such a wonderful family history, Kyoko’s life was on the run. During the bitter custody fight between Yoko and Anthony, Cox’s father Anthony abducted Kyoko, then eight years old, and vanished out of fear of losing his child.

Her father took such dramatic measures because he was afraid that his wife’s new husband, Lennon, would use his influence and money to take away his daughter. As a result, after carrying her away, he went underground with Kyoko on Christmas Eve 1971.

She was therefore forced to spend many unknown years with her father. When her father changed her name to Ruth Holman, her identity became muddled. She was reared as a religious cult member, estranged from family life, and had no touch with her biological mother.

David Clark, Anthony’s pal, claims

“Kyoko’s childhood was marred by a power struggle between three control freaks: Yoko, John, and her biological father.” Her father explained to her that he was rescuing her because her mother was involved with drugs and the occult. Her mother represented corruption.”

We might infer from this that she has experienced numerous ups and downs in her life.

Kyoko’s Mother, Yoko, had written her a letter.

Her mother, Yoko, and her new husband, Lennon, made every effort to locate Kyoko. But every time they got close to Kyoko, her father Anthony deftly avoided them. Even while living with the religious group, he was concerned that the cult might take his daughter away from him.

Yoko was unable to contact her daughter Kyoko after repeated efforts, and during this time, she wrote one letter to her. According to the letter,

Hello, Kyoko.

There hasn’t been a single day in all these years that I haven’t missed you. You will always be in my thoughts. However, I will not make any further attempts to locate you because I value your privacy. I wish you nothing but the best. If you ever want to contact me, please know that I adore you and would be delighted to hear from you. However, you need not feel bad if you choose not to contact me. You will always have my respect, love, and support.

How Did a Mother-Daughter Team Reconcile?

When Yoko Lennon died in 1980, she got a telegram of condolence from her ex-husband and daughter Kyoko. However, no specific place was given. Kyoko ultimately contacted her mother in 1997 and consented to rejoin with her at the age of 34.

When asked about the reconciliation, she said,

“I didn’t feel it was right for me to become a mother without first informing my mother that I was alive and well.”

Initially, the two communicated through phone from her home in Denver, Colorado, and she reconciled with her mother and half-brother Sean in 1998.
