Following the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War, she and her family were forced to abandon their homeland. They first went to Saudi Arabia. The future Mrs. Anderson was only a few months old at the time.

The family finally relocated to London. Juman spent many summers in Antibes, France, with her maternal grandmother in the early 1980s.

However, due to dislocation, Wes Anderson’s wife Malouf struggled with her identity while in England. As a result, she attended an American school in London and identified as American. Nonetheless, she developed an interest in British and French history, as well as fashion, notably that of the Victorian era.

Her mother’s writing style also instilled in her a Dickensian sense of humour.

Anderson’s wife Juman is a Brown University graduate.

Malouf came to the United States to complete her education, and Anderson’s husband attended Brown University, where she earned a BA in fine arts and art history. Juman later earned an MFA in set and costume design at the Tisch School of the Arts.
