Joshua Van, an MMA fighter, rose to notoriety in 2023 after winning his first two UFC fights. The MMA fighter from Houston, dubbed “The Fearless,” lives up to his moniker.

This 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m) tall UFC rookie is undeterred by his opponent. His most recent victory, over Kevin Borjas at UFC 295 (main event: Prochazka vs. Pereira), improved his MMA record to 9-1. Joshua, who is from Myanmar, has been in Houston since he was 12 years old, when his parents relocated.

As an American citizen, he currently competes in the MMA flyweight class; he began his professional career with Fury FC. Van has only lost one fight for the New Jersey-based MMA company since his debut in 2021. Joshua Van, 21, has signed with Dana White’s UFC for a short-notice fight in June 2023. His first victory was a split decision over Zhalgas Zhumagulov. He became the first Burmese-born fighter to compete in the UFC and win.

How Old Is Joshua Van? Wikipedia & Age

Van, nicknamed “The Fearless,” was born on October 10, 2001, in Hakha, Myanmar, where he spent his childhood with his four brothers. However, due to political and military unrest in his native country, his parents relocated their family to Malaysia. They lived there for three years until relocating to Houston, Texas, when he was eleven years old.

In 2023, Joshua will be 22 years old. His nationality is American, and he is of Asian descent. Many people are searching for “Joshua Van Wikipedia,” but he does not have any. However, his obvious proclivity for acquiring higher accomplishments suggests that he will one day get his own Wiki page. Van’s battles and statistics, however, may be found on sports-specific tabloid websites like UFC.com.

Why and how did Joshua go into MMA?

Joshua Van, like many other combat athletes, got into MMA for self-defense. Van, a pre-teen who could not speak English when his Burmese family came to the United States, faced bullying at school. As a result, he would eventually urge his mother to allow him to return to Myanmar, but his attitude would change.

He was a huge Bruce Lee fan who would watch street fighting videos and use the tactics he learned if he ever got into a fight. Joshua eventually got more driven to fight, revealing to MMA Junkie in 2023 that he had started to enjoy fighting.

“I eventually got to the point where I enjoyed fighting.” I watched videos on how to win street fights. I attempted it in my next bout and other similar things. That’s how I got started in my field.”

When he was 16/17, his friends supposedly introduced him to MMA, and after viewing Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather, he considered pursuing it. On the recommendation of a close friend, Joshua joined an MMA gym, where he met instructor Scott Juarez. It then followed him during his MMA career and has never looked back since.

MMA Stats And Joshua Van’s UFC Debut

On June 24, 2023, at UFC on ABC: Emmett vs. Topuria, the freestyle fighter made his UFC debut, combining power throws and quickness. In the bout, he faced Kazakh boxer Zhalgas Zhumagulov and threw punches and kicks for three rounds. Van finally won by unanimous decision to cap off his UFC debut. He became the first Myanmar-born MMA fighter to compete in and win a UFC fight.

He fought Kevin Borjas in his second UFC bout on November 11, 2023, at UFC 295: Procházka vs. Pereira. After three rounds of kicks, punches, and hooks, Joshua was declared the winner by unanimous decision. Van previously competed in the Fury FC promotion, where he won seven of his eight fights (5 by KO, two in the first round).
