American musician Josh Kiszka, 26, sings lead vocals for the hard rock group Greta Van Fleet. Along with his two siblings, Kyle Hauck on drums, Jake on guitar, and Sam on bass guitar, he created the band in 2012.

Following the publication of the track “Highway Tune,” Kiszka and the band gained attention. They then proceeded to release Black Smoke Rising, their EP, in March 2017. They have so far put out two studio albums and won the Grammy for Best Rock Album.

Josh just made headlines in 2022 after publicly apologizing for culturally exploiting Indigenous culture. Let’s discuss Josh’s early years, childhood, wealth, girlfriend, and a lot more today.

Raised in a musical family, Josh Kiszka

Joshua Kiszka, a singer-songwriter, was born in Michigan on April 23, 1996, under the sign of Taurus. He was born into a musical family; his parents are Papa and Karen Kiszka.

Not to be overlooked, Papa Kiszka plays frequently in the community with his bandmates as a vocalist for the Blues.

Josh has three siblings: Veronica Kiszka, Sam Kiszka, and Jake Kiszka. For the record, Josh and Jake are identical twins.

Details about Kiszka’s Education

The 26-year-old attended Frankenmuth High School, which is situated at 525 East Genesee Street in Frankenmuth, Michigan, and graduated.

Similarly, in 2015, his sister Veronica also received her high school diploma. Additionally, Josh’s mother attended Saginaw Valley State University after graduating from Grand Blanc High School.

The Ascent To Fame Of Josh Kiszka With Greta Van Fleet

Josh, his younger brother Sam, his twin brother Jake, and Kyle Hauck decided to start a band named Greta Van Fleet in 2012. Kyle brought up the name “Gretna Van Fleet,” and the four decided to adopt it for their group. Gretna, who is 80 years old in real life, later approved of changes made to her name.

Gretna doesn’t really like rock music, but she still supports it and even attended a play at Fischer Hall, a local venue. Sadly, Danny Wagner took Kyle’s position when she departed the group in 2013.

In the end, the band was signed by Lava Records in March 2017. Black Smoke Rising, their debut studio EP, was even featured on the Showtime program Shameless. Similarly, the official music video was exclusively posted by Loudwire.

The band went on to win Best New Artist at the Loudwire Music Awards in October with just one song credit. That same year, Apple Music also named them the new artist of the week.

On October 19, 2018, the band released Anthem of the Peaceful Army, their debut studio album, and in its first week of sales, almost 80,000 copies were sold. After being nominated for four Grammy Awards, the album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. Their second EP, From the Fires, won Best Rock Album.

Additionally, on April 16, 2021, their second album, The Battle at Garden’s Gate, was released. The singles from the album include “Built By Nations,” “My Way Soon,” “Age of Machine,” and “Heat Above.”

Greta Van Fleet and English rock group Led Zeppelin are frequently contrasted. Vocalist Robert Plant of the band referred to Josh as a “beautiful little singer” and declared that “they are Led Zeppelin I.”

A health issue caused Josh Kiszka and the band to postpone their performance.

Greta Van Fleet began her Dreams in Gold North America tour in early 2022 and traveled throughout several locations in Europe. But after Jake Kiszka was hospitalized, the crew was forced to cancel part of the tour.

Josh and Jake, the twin brothers, both reported feeling ill, but it was Jake’s pneumonia diagnosis that sent him to the hospital.

The band, who have more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram, shared the news on their page, @gretavanfleet. The group also disclosed Jake’s desire for the performance to continue, adding,

“Jake wanted to persevere, but the doctors cautioned that doing so might cause more issues and take longer to heal.”

They said as they wrapped up,

“This is just the start of the tour, and Jake must get well so that Dreams in Gold 2022 can go on as scheduled for the remainder of the year, beginning in South America.”

Once Jake was well enough to be released from the hospital, the band resumed their tour.

Kiszka and His Band Are Also Interested in Charitable Work

The band is still evolving daily as a result of their rising notoriety among rock music enthusiasts and their ongoing efforts to engage with their audience. Despite having achieved rapid success, the band maintains a grounded approach and makes a concerted effort to give back to the community.

A portion of each ticket purchased by the band for their 2018 Detroit concert was donated to the CHM Foundation. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s health and well-being.

They performed at the 26th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party that year, which focused on raising awareness of HIV/AIDS in particular.

In a similar vein, the group demonstrated their backing for James Rhodes’ Don’t Stop the Music initiative, which seeks to enhance music education and allow kids the opportunity to perform with their favorite bands.

Greta Van Fleet, despite their youth and budding career, is a positive role model for future generations.

Josh faced backlash for disparaging Indigenous people in their culture.

Josh came under fire on the internet in April 2022 when he performed wearing Native American outfits. He came under fire for regularly appearing on his performances donning headdresses made of feathers and clothing from Indigenous cultures.

His Instagram images from 2017, in which he is seen with pals wearing replicas of traditional Indigenous clothing, also played a role.

One person even made an Instagram account just to criticize the artist for these things. The account persisted in drawing attention from the public by stating,

“Despite being disrespectful to many Native cultures and culturally inappropriate, these images have never been removed or addressed. Josh has been contacted by Native American supporters and others requesting that he address the issue, but he has not responded.

They went on to say,

“Keeping quiet about this is hurtful and ignorant because it perpetuates racist ideas that Indigenous cultures are nothing more than a costume,”

A few days later, Josh publicly apologized on Instagram for the incident. The singer stated in the post,

“I see you, our Indigenous followers. I’ve taken some time to listen and collect my thoughts. I have a deeper respect for Indigenous culture than I do. I’ve had the opportunity to develop and learn as an adult. This is not where the growth has stopped, nor will it.

He went on,

Starting in my early years as a child growing up in Michigan, the Chippewa tribe has had a particularly significant influence on my life.

I have contributed philanthropically [to] the First Nations Development Institute to support the restoration of Indigenous customs such as theirs. If you would want to assist alongside me, please go to firstnations.org.
