Jordan Poole decided to enter the NBA Draft, certain that he would be selected, In 2019. Poole’s mother, Monet, told TMJ4, “He said the only way I won’t get drafted is if I walk into these workouts blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back.”

The Golden State Warriors selected Poole in the first round, giving him a spot next to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. However, Jordan’s lack of an immediate effect led to the Warriors sending him to the NBA G-Santa League’s Cruz Warriors.

In the end, Poole’s perseverance and diligence paid off, and he was instrumental in the Warriors’ 2022 Championship victory while finishing the year with the top free throw % in the NBA.

The competitive parents of Jordan anticipated their son would shine in the NBA finals.

Where was Jordan Poole born? Ethnicity, Nationality, Family

He was born on June 19th, 1999, to Monet and Anthony Poole, and grew up with a sister and a brother. In high school and college, Monet and Anthony were both athletes. Jordan remarked to The Athletic:

“My dad (Anthony) played football in college and basketball in high school. He preferred playing football. Despite not playing in college, my mother (Monet) was an athlete in high school.

The Milwaukee Bucks were a local team that the Poole family followed every season. On the north side of Milwaukee, Anthony managed a Sunday gym where Jordan frequently joined him.

Jordan waited till the games were over to sneak in and shoot because he was too young to participate. Jordan began using an NBA ball on a 10-foot rim in first grade. He missed a lot of shots, but he was motivated to succeed. Jordan was discouraged from shooting covertly by Anthony, according to The Ringer.

Anthony remarked,

“He always simply kept attempting to do it, even though it was a man-sized basketball. He was simply adamant, saying, “OK, I’m just going to hit this eventually.”

Jordan had mastered the three-point shot by middle school. Jordan would hear from Anthony that he couldn’t let his strict standards fall because he demanded perfection. According to Bleacher Report, the elder Poole once said to his son:

“You made a bad play. It’s acceptable if you just want to have fun and act like a typical kid. But if you want to play in the NBA, your weekend performance won’t get you very far. You’d be fortunate to play abroad.

Weeks passed before Jordan and Anthony spoke again, but the point was made. Jordan’s parents were aware that he would reach the championship round before he declared for the NBA.

Before the 2022 NBA Finals, Anthony remarked, “I always knew he was going to be here.”

“I always knew that he was going to be here, somehow,” the speaker said.

Jordan’s parents taught him to respect authority even when defying it.

Jordan was motivated and disciplined from an early age. He frequently persuaded his father to give him more time at the gym. He would ask, “Dad, can we go to the gym?” It’s nine o’clock at night, I say. “I know, let’s go work out,” Anthony continued.

Jordan became the free-throw wizard he is today because Monet and Anthony made him perform ten push-ups after each missed free shot. Monet said to TMJ4:

How many pushups are required for a free throw? Oh, ten. When he would miss a free shot, we would tell him to “drop it” and sit there and watch him perform push-ups. There is no excuse to skip one, I guess. When he does, he is aware of my anger.

Jordan lacked the necessary disposition, but he possessed the talent, drive, and discipline to achieve. Jordan’s parents taught him to question authority and to do so in a courteous way. Jordan clarified:

“I never behaved badly as a child or did anything to cause difficulty. However, if I wanted to stand out without being intrusive, I would do so in everything I did, from what I dressed to what I listened to, what I talked about to the questions I posed.

If Jordan hadn’t wanted to argue every ruling against him or make fun of rivals for missed shots, he probably wouldn’t have survived games against adults. Poole’s mindset encouraged him to become brave, which helped him overcome obstacles later in his career.

Jordan told The Ringer, “I’m not saying you can’t express fear or show vulnerability, but it will become exacerbated if you do. When it happened, dread was no longer present.

When things in his career got difficult, Poole turned to his father and mentors.

Jordan experienced his first significant professional setback soon after enrolling at the University of Michigan to play for the Michigan Wolverines. He had anticipated earning a spot in the starting lineup right away, but coach John Beilein only sometimes utilized him.

One of the worst things I’ve ever experienced, according to him, was not being able to play after working so hard to get to this position. I wouldn’t want anyone to experience it.

Despite the short amount of playing time, he didn’t give up. He sought counsel from his father and the team’s coaches, gradually advancing on the roster and securing a starting position.

Before entering the NBA Draft, Jordan played for the Wolverines for two seasons. However, he was certain he would play for the Golden State Warriors after trying out for multiple clubs. Anthony stated to WTMJ:

Jordan declared: “I’m moving to Golden State. He had just returned from a workout with the Orlando Magic, then went home, had one more workout with the Bucks, and then had to go again for a workout with the Warriors. On the plane, he claimed, God gave him a sign.

Poole joined the Golden State Warriors as he had anticipated, but his first season was difficult. Jordan’s lack of power made him vulnerable to bullying by defenders, and the Warriors’ coaches were astounded by his subpar defensive work rate.

Jordan worked hard to gain the muscle that he needed. Anthony was astounded by Jordan’s display of power when working out in Milwaukee before displaying his signature accuracy when shooting.

“I returned home and informed my wife that I thought that boy was a pro. Yes, I know, he’s in the league, she said. I replied, “No.” You’re not understanding me, I said. I remarked, “I’ve trained him all my life.” He wasn’t missing them, I declared. I remarked, “He was hitting the net with every shot because of the way he was shooting the ball.”
