On Thursday night, comedian and author Jak Knight suddenly traveled to Los Angeles. The Bust Down co-creator, according to a statement from his family, passed away at the age of 28.

However, the cause of his passing is still unknown. After news of the rising star’s passing made headlines, both ordinary people and famous people paid tribute to him on social media.

The LA-based comedian is best known for his work on several television shows, such as Big Mouth and Black-ish. Fans are requested to respect their privacy during this “particularly challenging period,” according to a family spokesman.

The entire career of Jak Knight

The comedian, who was born in Seattle, later moved to Los Angeles. He had an appearance in the Fox animated comedy Lucas Bros. Moving Company in 2013, and Comedy Central designated him a Comic To Watch the following year.

He was chosen as the New Face at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival in 2015. At the Oddball Comedy Festival that year, he served as the opening act for legends like Dave Chappelle, Eric Andre, Moshe Kasher, Aziz Ansari, and Joel McHale.

The comedic master joined Netflix’s Big Mouth as a staff writer and story editor in 2017. He not only wrote for the show, but he also provided the voice for the character DeVon, who appeared in 28 episodes. In 2021, Knight started appearing frequently and producing the late-night show Pause With Sam Jay. The comedian wrote seven episodes for the second season of the program, which debuted in May.

Jak Knight adds to his resume as a writer for Bill Burr’s sketch comedy program Immoral Compass on the Roku Channel. According to his official website, Knight frequently played NBA 2K alongside Michael B. Jordan and Hannibal Buress. He has also appeared on shows including @MIDNIGHT, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, and Adam Devin’s House Party.

People other than his supporters were saddened by Knight’s passing. The family of Jak Bust Down released the following statement after learning of his passing:

“We were all lucky to witness his brilliance. He was a fantastic humorist, artist, and visionary. In this trying time, our hearts go out to Jak’s family, friends, and neighborhood.

Comedy Central also paid tribute to the comedian on Twitter, calling him a “hilarious and true entertainer.” The news of Knight’s passing shocked a number of other comedians and celebrities as well. The comedians Kumail Nanjiani, Tom Dillon, and TJ Chambers were among these people.

Many of the mourners who took to Twitter to share their condolences for the comedian’s demise spoke of their happy memories of him. Fans also referred to Knight as a “future goat” and remarked that he was “what the society needed” (best of all time).

Others expressed their profound sorrow at his passing and remarked that he was “truly one of the funniest comedians” they had ever seen.
