In February 2021, the renowned Lou Dobbs Tonight program on Fox Business Network was canceled. Dobbs had closed his final broadcast with his customary “Join us here tomorrow” and “See you then” appeal, thus the cancellation came as a surprise.

The show was canceled by Fox News media on February 5, 2021, hence the promised “tomorrow” never materialized.

Everyone was stunned by the news, even Dobbs’ followers and other media organizations, as his show had been running smoothly since 1980 and he was one of television’s highest-rated hosts. The only justification given by the network for the cancellation was that it was part of its post-election programming.

The motive behind the cancellation

But other than to restate that it was part of its post-election programming plans, the network gave no compelling explanation for the termination. Many believed that the cancellation was related to his involvement in a $2.7 billion defamation case, however, the network declined to elaborate.

Just one day before his show was terminated, Smartmatic, a voting software company, filed a slander lawsuit against Fox News and its three anchors, Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro, and Lou Dobbs.

The network and Dobbs, a supporter of Donald Trump, were charged with spreading false information about their involvement in the election by the firm. Fox News did not, however, address if this was the main cause of the abrupt cancellation.

Dobbs is still under contract with Fox News despite the discontinuation of the show. On the other hand, it’s improbable that the Harvard grad will show up on the network.

He retweeted tweets from his followers that opposed or criticized Fox and its recent adjustments to indicate his discontent with the decision made for the show. Undoubtedly, the cancellation of Dobbs’ well-known show by Fox News affected his salary and net worth.

Moreover, a career comprising CNN

Dobbs has been a journalist for more than 40 years. She was born on September 24, 1945. The conservative commentator got his start in radio news as a reporter and anchor for stations including KBLU and KING-TV.

He was invited to join CNN when Ted Turner got in touch with him in 1979, the year the network was founded. Lou Dobbs became the main economics correspondent by the year 1980. He started presenting Moneyline, a business news program, in 2001.

Later, he quit CNN to start the astronomy news website Space.com, but he soon returned to host Lou Dobbs Tonight. Dobb’s viewers were shocked in 2009 when he abruptly left CNN, though. He allegedly left because of conflicts with the management group. After CNN, he went back to radio, where from 2009 to 2012, he held his nationally syndicated show for three years.

He swiftly joined a rival TV channel after an acrimonious split with CNN. Just one year after leaving CNN, he returned to the workplace as the host of Lou Dobbs Tonight on Fox News Network.

The Lou Dobbs Net Worth

He gained popularity and a sizable pay through his work for famous news organizations like CNN and Fox News, which he exploited to boost his wealth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lou Dobbs earned $5 million in salary and had a net worth of $20 million as of November 2022.

He is the owner of a $1.2 million property on Eagle Terrace in the Ibis Golf & Country Club in West Palm Beach and a 300-acre horse farm. Dobbs resides on his farm with his wife, Debi Segura. Additionally, he is the author of 11 novels, including “Putin’s Gambit: a Novel,” “Upheaval,” and “The Next Business Frontier.”

The George Foster Peabody Award and the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement were given to the political analyst by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
