Extrapolations: Is Forest Whitaker a Muslim or a Christian?

Given that he has kept his religious views private, few people are aware of Forest Whitaker’s religious affiliations.

The actor, who will soon participate in an Extrapolations episode, has never revealed his religion or talked about his spiritual beliefs in interviews or in public settings. However, a number of websites claim that Forest Whitaker is a Christian.

The actor is also well known for his strong religious beliefs and morals because he was reared in a church alongside his grandfather, a preacher for 50 years.

His family members shared his passion for teaching and preaching, but he did admit that when he was younger, his faith was not as strong as that of his family.

The same may be said of Forest, who stated in an interview with Risen Magazine, “I grew up in a church, and my grandfather served as a preacher for more than 50 years.”

“There are many preachers and teachers on my dad’s side,” he continued. Anyone who attends one of my family gatherings is either a preacher or a teacher. I grew up in that manner.

Similarly, he added, “The one thing my mother did that I believe is truly a big blessing is that when I was a little kid and we all had to go to church, I used to say, ‘I won’t get up. Why should I accept what you hold to be true? Furthermore, he said,

‘You shouldn’t believe in something that I believe in, but you should believe in something,’ my mother wisely advised me. So get up! Actually, she was right in that regard.

My mind is therefore open to understanding the connections between all faiths and people trying to become more holy and better human beings. That is something I have dealt with my entire life.
