Hollywood sisters Zooey and Emily Deschanel are actors. Both of their parents are familiar with the entertainment business. The two, however, approached their acting careers in quite different ways. One of them wasn’t even interested in acting.

Which one was it then? Here are more details regarding that as well as other aspects of the sisters’ individual and collective existence.

Birthdays of Emily Deschanel and Zooey Deschanel

The older of the two Deschanel siblings is Emily. Her birthday is October 11, 1976. The youngest sister, Zooey, came on January 17, 1980, four years later.

Their parents are well-known figures in Hollywood; their mother, Mary Jo Deschanel (née Weir), is an actress, while their father, Caleb Deschanel, is a cinematographer and filmmaker.

The Ethnicity and Heritage of the Deschanel Sisters

Zooey and Emily are of very distinct racial origins. Paul Jules Deschanel, their paternal grandpa, was a native of Oullins, Rhône, France. The sisters’ French ancestry was passed down to them when he immigrated to the United States in 1930 and began a family there.

Apart from that, the sisters have some Pennsylvanian Quaker heritage through her paternal grandmother, Anna Ward Orr. Due to their maternal side of the family, they also have Deep Ohio, New York, and Irish, Swiss, English, and Dutch ancestry.

Different perspectives on upbringing in Los Angeles

Only one of the siblings loved living in Los Angeles where they both grew up. In an interview with LA Mag dated April 2013, Emily stated regarding Los Angeles, “The city has so many beautiful things to offer.” “My home will always be in Los Angeles.

I doubt that I would experience the same emotions in another location. It’s convenient to stay put and have a career that puts me in Los Angeles.”

Zooey did not enjoy the aura L.A., particularly for girls, gave off.

“Growing up in Los Angeles, it seems like you are taught to give up trying to be the most attractive lady in the room. I mean, I care about looking well, but it’s not my priority “In September 2011, she spoke with Vulture.

When they were little, Zooey was bullied by Emily.

Emily developed her acting skills earlier than her sister because she is older. So she would play practical jokes on Zooey and harass her into thinking silly things when they were younger.

Zooey was persuaded by Emily that “Neptunians had [taken] [her] genuine sister and replaced [her] with a counterfeit who looked just like [her],” according to Zooey.

In an interview with Conan, Emily spoke more, saying: “I would tell her… that I’d [harmed] her sister and taken over her body, and that I was going to kill her next.” She even managed to make her giggle after crying.

Zooey eventually reached a stage where all Emily had to do to get terrified was to widen her eyes.

Just one of them finished college.

Between the two, Emily is the only one with a degree from a four-year university. The oldest sister went to Crossroads School and Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles.

Kate Hudson and Jake Gyllenhaal were classmates of Zooey’s at Crossroads. She left the school after realizing her “specialness” wasn’t valued there and decided to focus only on acting.

Zooey and Emily have different career goals.

While Emily had different intentions, Zooey immediately began performing. She had always wanted to go into academia and pursue the arts.

It wasn’t that Emily disliked acting in the slightest. When they were little, both enjoyed acting in plays, but only Zooey knew early on that she wanted to be an actress.

Emily preferred to become an architect. “I adore building. I suppose that I simply love the fusion of art and science “During the sisters’ interview with Buddy TV in December 2009, Emily stated.

They Follow Various Diets

Since she was a teenager, Emily has been an ardent vegan. Zooey, on the other hand, isn’t even vegetarian.

not for lack of trying, though. When Zooey discovered she was allergic to dairy, wheat, and eggs, she tried her sister’s diet. She made an effort to avoid meat because she reasoned that it would be simple since she already found it difficult to eat all of her favorite foods.

“Being a vegan who avoids gluten is, like, the most challenging thing you can do. And I was around for six months “She spoke to Vulture.
