Duvan Tomas Perez, a 16-year-old Guatemalan kid, passed away in the Mar-Jac Poultry facility in Mississippi. Butch Benedict, the coroner for Forrest County, reports that the accident happened on July 14 at approximately 8:00 p.m. central time. The cause of heavenly Duvan Tomas Perez’s death is still the sole unanswered mystery regarding the horrific tragedy. Let’s learn more about it in-depth.

What Was the Cause of Death and Obituary of Duvan Tomas Perez?

At the Mar-Jac Poultry business in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, tragedy struck when 16-year-old Duvan Tomas Perez perished in a terrible industrial accident. The small child was cleaning a processing plant, the business said in a statement. The incident, which happened on a Friday night at about 8 o’clock at night, sparked debate regarding child labor laws and companies’ obligations to follow safety protocols.

The teenager’s death was officially attributed to the industrial equipment, according to Forrest County coroner Butch Benedict. “An autopsy had been completed, and details would probably be released next week,” he further stated. It is against federal labor laws for anybody under the age of eighteen to operate and maintain meat processing and packaging machinery.

The US Department of Labor regards it as “particularly hazardous.” Minors are expressly prohibited from working in packing industries or jobs involving the processing of meat and poultry by Mississippi’s state labor regulations.

The terrible incident prompted inquiries into the Mar-Jac factory by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The business asserted that when it hired him, it was ignorant of his true age. Authorities are therefore trying to figure out how Perez’s identity and age were falsified on the documentation.

The third chicken plant death

Due to past mishaps involving the Mar-Jac Poultry facility, its safety procedures are under increased scrutiny. Perez’s demise marks the third occurrence at Mar-Jac since 2020; two additional staff members have already away during that time. In December 2020, an employee of 33 years old had an injury in the plant that resulted in his death. Additionally, a 48-year employee passed away in June 2021 following heavy machinery-related accidents.

It has sparked discussions on the necessity of more robust safeguards for vulnerable workers, especially those with immigrant histories who may be more susceptible to exploitation. In the event of a conviction for breaking child labor rules, the Chicken Plant may be subject to fines exceeding $30,000.

Duvan’s passing serves as a somber reminder of the value of upholding labor regulations and guaranteeing the security and welfare of all employees, particularly those who are younger. His family is in tremendous grief over Duvan Tomas Perez’s tragic passing. They are struggling to fill the enormous hole his departure has left. Their world has been devastated by the horrible tragedy at the Mar-Jac Poultry facility in Mississippi, but they still remember a lively, responsible little kid who made them smile.

Reminiscent of Perez’s frequent smile, fun-loving demeanor, and generous character, one of his relatives expressed deep regret. For those who knew and loved him, his passing is all the more tragic because he was renowned for being responsible and hardworking at work. The family of Perez takes comfort in the treasured memories of a kind and bright soul stolen far too soon as they cope with this great loss.
