Gross Value

She influenced her son’s NBA career as a mother and is pleased of his accomplishments. He arrived at his current position thanks to his never-say-die attitude. He has built up a sizeable net worth of:

marries a member of the military

Thomas Embiid, a military officer, is the spouse of Christine. Thomas enjoyed handball in the past. He was quite worried about the food and living conditions for his family.

They provided their children with everything they needed despite not being wealthy. The couple is still together and proud of their son’s success. Joel’s parents initially had little interest in the NBA and wanted him to become a doctor.

Joel, Arthur, and Muriel, two boys, were reared by Christine, as was Muriel, a girl. She raised her three children in Yaounde, Cameroon. On October 17, 2014, the loss of his younger son Arthur rocked the family. He was hurt badly in an accident. He was only 13 years old when he was killed in Cameroon by a car. Joel claimed that his mother had always preferred Arthur.

Effects of Arthur’s passing

It is impossible to describe the agony of a mother who has lost her kid. Since the day Arthur passed away, Christine has been dealing with his loss, which has been tough for her to accept and is still having an impact on her. It was challenging for the entire family.

Joel thought about giving up basketball after his younger brother’s passing hurt him. He hadn’t seen his younger brother in four years and was now living in America.

The Arthur Embiid & Angels Foundation in Cameroon supports underprivileged children in Arthur’s memory. Joel gave his child his late brother’s name. He has a kid named Arthur Elijah De Paula Embiid.

How Joel became a star in the NBA

Although Joel was born in Cameroon, a country with little exposure to and media coverage of basketball, he was originally an excellent volleyball player and dreamed to play in Europe.

He didn’t start playing basketball until he was inspired by Kobe Bryant during the NBA Finals matchup between the Celtics. Joel’s volleyball coach urged him to sign up for a camp sponsored by NBA player Luc Mbah a Moute, but Joel lacked the bravery to do so because he was not familiar with basketball rules.

He stood out and was ultimately requested to take part in Basketball Without Borders (BWB). He was eventually convinced and given permission to enroll at Montverde Academy in Florida, despite his father’s initial desire for him to pursue a volleyball career in Europe. His talent significantly improved with continued practice, and the rest is history.

Joel is in a committed relationship with model Anne De Paula, whom he met through a mutual acquaintance at a dinner in New York City in 2018. They got together as friends first. The shared interests of Joel and his fiancée kept them together. Every day they had to struggle with time, and their relationship eventually developed into love.
