We wanted to tell you about a noteworthy recent event. We have once more witnessed incredible blessings come from horrifying situations, and a few weeks ago, we unexpectedly received a call that contained “the worst and the best news all at once.”

The birth father of the children gave up his parental rights without explanation or communication. The children spent the holidays trying to comprehend how a parent could not only CHOOSE to forsake his children financially and emotionally for years but then suddenly and permanently disown them

. They were devastated and puzzled. They are simultaneously relieved that the commotion surrounding his choices should no longer have an impact on them.

Both are overjoyed to have the father figure who has made a difference in their lives adopt them. The children feel abandoned, but they are aware of their importance. We wish Mike well as he looks.

They are pleased to continue raising these wonderful children with Shawn. We are fortunate to have a permanent family. We appreciate the support and consideration that friends and family have shown for the kids during this trying time. Peace and a happy new year to everyone!
