How did Bobby Seale start his Professional Career?

Bobby Seale began his career as one of the co-founders of the Black Panthers Party alongside Huey P. Newton after being inspired by revolutionary Malcolm X. The Black Panther Party was founded in October 1966 with the motto “Self-Defense.”

The primary intent was for members of the black community to come together and share their hopes and dreams. Huey P. Newton and Seize the Time: The Story of the Black Panther Party are both books written by Bobby.

While still employed by the AAA organization, Bobby sought out volunteer work with the North Oakland Neighborhood Anti-Poverty Center. It is a non-profit organization with government funding that aims to reduce poverty and illiteracy in minority populations.

Bobby put in a lot of effort to teach the kids about African-American history and to have compassion for those in need in their community.
The Soul Students Advisory Council, which Bobby and his friend Huey Newton established to provide revolutionary services to the black community, was named after the two men.

When black radical leader Malcolm X was murdered in 1965, it was a devastating blow to Huey and Bobby. Taking up Malcolm X’s call for “freedom by any means necessary,” they formed a political group to advocate for black Americans’ civil liberties in the United States. Bobby and Huey thereupon established the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.

While the Black Panther Party did speak out against police violence against African-Americans, the group’s primary goal was to aid black people in gaining equality, freedom, and respect within the American sociocultural scene.

Active from 1966 until 1982, the party rose to prominence as the leading black rights organization in the United States. The festivities kicked up in Oakland, California, but soon “chapters” were formed in other major cities like Chicago and New York. In subsequent years, the party established chapters in Algeria and the UK.

The original members of the party formed it to monitor police brutality in Oakland’s black neighborhood. As a result, there were several violent confrontations between the Oakland Police Department and Black Panther Party members.
